Even all of us so-called “middle class” families can take advantage of the best deals. It’s not just reserved for the aristocrats and celebrities. Cyberspace is there to aid us all. I like to use hotel search engines any time I travel.

I love the way I can punch in a destination and get flooded with results regarding the area and all lodging options. This way I can open each hotel’s website and do some investigating. I can see what the rooms look like and how the surroundings of the hotel appear. I can even check to see if there is a pool and Jacuzzi available. So many hotels provide virtual tours now days. This reveals all the necessities. You no longer have to guess if the hotel is satisfactory or not. Furthermore, you can find out where the lodging is located exactly. Maybe you want one in a downtown area.

Affordable Lake Rentals As Alternative to Hotel

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

It seems that each year as the summer months approach we begin thinking of vacation ideas. The most popular destination for our family is any where there is water. Because of our love for the water we look for lake rentals for our accommodations. We have found that lake rentals come in a huge price range, depending on what the property has to offer. We used to only look at lake rentals if we were planning on boating, fishing or hiking. But we have found that no matter what the core plans for our trip are, lake rentals can be an affordable, relaxing alternative to hotels.

Last year we decided to go to go to a theme park that has multiple attractions such as thrill rides, musical entertainment and a separate package for a water park. When we looked at the cost for the day at the water park we were concerned how we were going to budget this in. We started looking for hotel accommodations and noticed listings for lake rentals. We looked up some of the lake rentals to compare the cost of the hotels in the area. We found that we could save money by renting the full house. This way we could cook some of our meals instead of eating all of them in restaurants. Also we would all be together instead of being in joining rooms.

We talked to the kids and they were pleased with the idea of a staying at a lake. This way we gave up the idea of the water park and the costs associated with that for one day and were able to spend portions of each day swimming in the lake. We had several lake rentals to choose from. Some of the lake rentals were run by resorts and others were private homes and cabins that the owners rented by the day or week. We chose a 3 bedroom private lake cabin. For the rental fee we had use of the cabin and the property. The owners told us we could bring our own boat or any other equipment we wanted to use.

As you are looking for lake rentals make sure you ask questions regarding what is provided and what you need to bring along. Also ask if there are special rules and regulations regarding the lake rentals. Some private owners have so many rules I would not feel comfortable staying in their lake rentals, because I would be yelling at the kids constantly over what they could and could not do. Remember as you are planning your summer trip that lake rentals can be an affordable and relaxing alternative to renting a hotel or motel room.

Popular Mexico Vacation Packages

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

Are you stress up? When the daily grind gets to be too much for you to bear, why not take a trip south of the border to get away from it all? With fabulous destinations such as Cancun, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, and more just a short plane ride away, you can be sipping a cool drink on a sunny beach in no time. The Internet makes it very easy to put together a variety of Mexico vacation packages that you can then compare side by side, so you’re sure to be able to come up with a great plan that will allow you to enjoy the getaway of your dreams while remaining well within your budget.

The most popular type of Mexico vacation package by far is an all-inclusive plan. As the name indicates, all-inclusive plans cover everything from airfare to food to lodging, and also some activities as well. This is a great choice if you just want to spend your days on the beach or golfing. The specifics of each plan naturally vary, so be sure to read all the details before you decide to purchase one. In addition, many resorts have an open-door policy, meaning you can enjoy all the properties of a particular hotel chain so long as you are paying for at least one room in the resort. This is a very attractive bonus to many travelers because you’ll be able to experience a variety of activities in several different settings without having to pay any extra fees.

Of course your Mexico vacation package doesn’t have to be all-inclusive. In fact, you can often find exceptional deals by purchasing your plane tickets, hotel rooms, and meals separately. This is obviously a more flexible option, and gives you a lot more control over your specific itinerary. So if you plan on driving around to a lot of different cities, exploring various Mayan ruins, shopping outside of the resort area, or trying as many new restaurants as you can, then this is definitely a better way to go.

There are also special Mexico vacation packages that appeal to specific kinds of travelers. For example, if you want to go there during college spring break with a bunch of friends, then you should check out travel agencies or resorts that offer group discounts. Similarly, there are many different Mexico vacation packages designed especially for honeymooners, couples searching for a romantic getaway, and even for singles looking to meet other people.

The great weather all year round, beautiful sights, delectable food, favorable exchange rate, and proximity to the United States all combine to make Mexico one of the top destinations for vacationers across the country. Mexico has something for everyone, be you single, with young children, big group of friends. Book a Mexico vacation package online today and escape from the drudgery of school or work right now!

Cheap Weekend Breaks for the Irregular Guy

Saturday, July 1st, 2006

Taking long vacation is not a luxury that everyone has. I’ve got a good job, but a kind of irregular one. You see, I probably work less than the average chap only 3 to 4 days a week, but I’m at work all year around. It is what comes of being a tutor; to make the bills, I simply can’t afford to take time off for an extended vacation. The best I can do is cheap weekend breaks here and there to cure the tedium of work.

The last of my cheap weekend breaks was a trip to Las Vegas. I found my tickets and my hotel through the internet and booked remarkably inexpensive travel all of the way there. You see, there are plenty of people like me who are catered to on the world wide web. People who have little money, but love to travel all of the time, who can’t afford to go all out and spend on luxury, but love to take cheap weekend breaks to a variety of destinations.

My trip to Vegas was really one of my favorite. I’m not a gambler, or much of one anyway, but I love the allure of glamor. The lights, the music, the high rollers and the broken dreams, all do something to me. It’s the exoticism of sensation, the immersion in the experience of a world different from my own, that forms the core of most of my cheap weekend breaks.

Before that, I took a mid-winter break to Charleston, South Carolina. In the Spring and Summer, this charming old southern town is a beach resort, booming with traffic and tourism, but in the winter, it’s mild weather, quiet beaches, and low tourist population make it one of the ideal cheap weekend breaks. I love that experience of sitting there on the water, when no one is around, I love the sleepiness of a town in its off season, and the beautiful southern architecture. The hotels are cheap, the food, inexpensive and delicious, and all in all, it makes one of the ideal cheap weekend breaks. There is not much of a music scene or nightlife during the winter, but if you are only going away for the weekend, that isn’t necessarily such a bad thing. You can always take another cheap weekend trip somewhere livelier, such as the aforementioned Vegas, another time. Besides, sometimes it is nice to get away from it all. And this is definitely a less expensive way to do it than Hawaii.

Being able to take regular weekend breaks has make me the envy of many of my friends who are tied down 6 days a week. If your schedule allows, I am sure weekend breaks will not make any strain on your budget.
